SANDMARC 100mm Macro Lens

The SANDMARC 100mm Macro Lens opens up a fun new style of photography on the iPhone by allowing you to capture dramatic close-up images with smoother background separation than native iPhone macro mode. I found it especially enjoyable for photographing moss, leaves, textures, and other small nature details while hiking.

Compared to native iPhone macro mode, the biggest benefit is the creamier background rendering and stronger subject separation, helping close-up subjects stand out more clearly. The main tradeoff is a more limited focus distance and needing to physically move the phone to achieve focus.

SANDMARC 6x Telephoto Lens

The SANDMARC 6x Telephoto Lens adds an impressive amount of reach to the iPhone. I tested it for landscapes, wildlife, city scenes, and video, and it definitely opens up creative possibilities that simply aren’t possible with the iPhone alone.

The biggest benefit of the lens is the ability to dramatically zoom in on distant subjects, making it great for wildlife, compressed landscape scenes, and long reach video. The tradeoff is a drop in image quality and softness, especially when pairing the lens with the iPhone’s 5x camera. I found the results more forgiving for video and social media use, while stills photography benefits more when using the lens over the 1x camera.

SANDMARC Probe Lens

The SANDMARC Probe Lens is one of the more unique iPhone lenses I’ve tested, combining a wide-angle macro design with a long, narrow form factor that allows you to capture perspectives that would be difficult or impossible with a normal lens. I used it for close-up nature footage, creative shots at home, and even filming inside tight spaces like a car engine bay.

One standout feature is the built-in light on the front of the lens, which helps illuminate subjects when shooting in tight or darker environments. Image quality was very good overall, and the lens was a lot of fun to use, though I did notice some flare when using the built-in light while not close to a subject. Once you get close and illuminate the scene directly, the flare becomes much less noticeable.

SANDMARC Filters for iPhone

SANDMARC’s iPhone filters bring some of the same creative tools commonly used on mirrorless cameras to mobile photography and video. I tested both their circular polarizer and ND filter set in a variety of real-world situations, including landscapes, rivers, waterfalls, and video work to see how they performed.

The circular polarizer was especially useful for cutting through glare, reducing reflections on water and foliage, and adding more color and contrast to scenes. Meanwhile, the ND filters made it possible to achieve slower shutter speeds for motion blur in waterfalls and flowing water, while also helping maintain more natural shutter speeds for video in bright conditions. Overall, the filters worked well and added useful creative flexibility to iPhone photography and videography.

SANDMARC 48mm Telephoto Tetraprism Lens

The SANDMARC 48mm Telephoto Tetraprism Lens is designed to effectively double the reach of compatible iPhone telephoto cameras while maintaining better image quality than digital zoom alone. I tested it with both photo and video, comparing it against native iPhone zoom to see how well it held detail and sharpness in real-world use.

In my testing, the lens delivered noticeably better results than relying on digital zoom, especially at longer focal lengths where detail quickly begins to fall apart on the iPhone alone. Sharpness was generally very good in the center of the frame, though I did notice some softness toward the edges when shooting at lower zoom levels. Overall, it adds useful reach for wildlife, distant subjects, and telephoto photography while preserving more detail than simply zooming digitally.
