Introduction

Looking to get more out of your RAW files or add new tools to your photo editing workflow?

DxO offers a range of photo editing software designed to improve RAW processing, noise reduction, optical corrections, creative effects, and overall image editing. Products such as PureRAW, Nik Collection, PhotoLab, FilmPack, and ViewPoint can be used individually or alongside existing tools like Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. I’ve personally found PureRAW and Nik Collection to be useful additions to my current Lightroom and Photoshop workflow.

PureRAW

DxO PureRAW is designed to improve RAW files before the main editing process begins. It combines DxO’s DeepPRIME noise reduction with demosaicing, lens-specific sharpening, and optical corrections for distortion, chromatic aberration, and vignetting. PureRAW can fit into an existing Lightroom or Photoshop workflow by creating a processed DNG that can then be edited normally.

Nik Collection

Nik Collection is a suite of creative photo editing plugins that can be used with applications such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. The collection includes tools for color editing, black-and-white conversion, analog effects, HDR processing, sharpening, noise reduction, and selective adjustments. One of the advantages of using Nik Collection with Photoshop is the ability to apply effects and then continue refining them using Photoshop layers, masks, opacity, blending modes, and other editing tools.

PhotoLab

DxO PhotoLab is a complete RAW photo editor that combines DxO’s image-processing technology with tools for exposure, color, masking, local adjustments, noise reduction, lens corrections, and photo organization. Unlike PureRAW, which is designed to prepare a RAW file for editing elsewhere, PhotoLab can handle the RAW editing process from start to finish. It can also be used alongside applications such as Photoshop when more advanced layer-based editing or compositing is needed.

FilmPack

DxO FilmPack is focused on film emulation and analog-inspired editing. It includes simulations of classic color and black-and-white films along with controls for grain, color rendering, contrast, and other characteristics associated with traditional film photography. FilmPack can be used on its own or alongside other DxO software.

ViewPoint

DxO ViewPoint is designed for perspective and geometry correction. It can be used to correct issues such as converging verticals, distorted proportions, wide-angle stretching, horizon alignment, and other perspective-related problems. This can be particularly useful for architecture, interiors, wide-angle photography, and other images where geometry needs additional correction.
